Transplant Procurement Management 25th anniversary

We are pleased to announce that this year 2016 we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary!

Transplant Procurement Management (TPM®) is an educational program that since 1991 has trained over 12.000 participants from 100 countries. TPM programs are designed to adapt the course contents to the specific needs of the diverse countries’ situation.

The Academic Event will take place on November 14th, 2016, from 11:00 till 14:00 h., in the Aula Magna of the historic building of the University of Barcelona.

Global Leadership Symposium

Photo GLS 2016From May 22nd to 26th took place the 3rd Global Leadership Symposium in San Diego, California. In partnership, TPM, LifeSource, OneLegacy and the Gift of Life Institute from USA, gathered at this special event 71 international leaders in the donation field, from more than 20 different countries. GLS offered an extraordinary opportunity to learn and share knowledge, opinions and expertise of donation and transplantation practices, aimed to facing the challenges to overcome in the field in the near future.


Participation on the Russian National Transplant Conference

20160628_085916Dr Manyalich has been invited as an expert to attend the 8th Russian National Transplant Conference that took place from 27th to 29th of June 2016 in Moscow, Russia, organized by Russian Transplant Society.
The Conference  commemorated the 100th anniversary of the birth of the first Russian scientist and organ transplant pioneer, V.P. Demikhov. It has been very interesting and useful and, furthermore, it is always a pleasure to share experiences in Organ donation and Transplantation  with our Russian colleagues.


DTI on the Gulf Organ Donor Management Conference

DammamDr. Jose Maria Domínguez (Seville) and  Dr. Martí Manyalich (Barcelona) attended as expert invited speakers at the 2nd Gulf Organ Donor Management  Conference in Dammam (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) last 11-12 May 2016.  Their participation was focused  on  Brain death, ICU staff role in Organ Donation, How to educate developing countries in Organ Donation and the practices of DCD (Donor After Cardiac Death) worldwide.
Saudi Arabia is nowadays implementing partially the Spanish TPM model to increase Organ Donation and it was very interesting to share experiences with the Saudi Arabian colleagues.


DTI Foundation 2015 Annual Report Activity

We are delighted to share our DTI Foundation Annual Report Activity 2015. In this report, you will find the actions and updates that the Foundation has carried out over 2015, putting special attention to our increasing internalization (we have trained more than 500 professionals in more than 15 countries, involving near 200 teachers); the important activity of DTI-TPM in China during 2015; and the 2016 expected goals, as the consolidation of our work in Africa. Not to forget, 2016 will be the TPM 25th anniversary.

17th meeting of the European Committee on Organ Transplantation (CD-P-TO)

DTI participated in an international cooperation initiative with the Belarus Republic promoted by the Council of Europe.

Last April 19-20th, Dr. Martí Manyalich and Estephan Arredondo from DTI Foundation, attended the 17th meeting of the European Committee (Partial Agreement) on Organ Transplantation (CD-P-TO) which was held in Strasbourg  to present the results of the evaluation visit of the Belarus Republic developed last December 7-11th promoted by the Council of Europe.

As a consequence of the visit an action plan to enhance the organ donation system in Belarus has been developed for the Ministry of Health of Belarus Republic consideration.

Closing Conference of the EU Project on Strengthening the Transplant Agency of the Republic of Moldova

Over 120 participants of the healthcare sector gathered in Chisinau in a closing conference to present and to evaluate the main results and outcomes of the Twinning Project “Strengthening the Transplant Agency of the Republic of Moldova and Support in Legal Approximation in the Area of Quality and Safety of Substances of Human Origin” funded by the European Union and implemented by a Spanish-French Consortium at the Moldovan Transplant Agency.

During more than two years of implementation, the project carried out 32 activities comprising 48 expert missions, 3 study visits and 5 traineeships for 38 health care professionals, 3 face to face trainings and 3 online trainings, more than 10 round tables and seminars. It also included a communication and information campaign addressing health care professionals, civil society and general public to raise awareness of the importance of the donation and transplantation activities.

The aim of the conference was to present the main results and outcomes of the project and the EU experts' recommendations, as well as to identify the mechanisms of future cooperation between the partner institutions to ensure the sustainability of the projects results.

The closing ceremony of the event was preceded by a press conference to highlight the achievements of the first Twinning Project in the health sector.

The overall objective of the project was to contribute to a better quality and safety of transplantations of human organs, tissues, and cells, in the Republic of Moldova. The purpose of this project was to develop the transplant system in the Republic of Moldova and to strengthen the Transplant Agency by; improving the institutional and legal frameworks, ensuring the quality standards and increasing knowledges, skills and practices, and ethics of the human resources.Moldova 1image-2


Transplant Donation Global Leadership Symposium 2016

As part of the Board Committee, we are honored to participate in this year’s Transplant Donation Global Leadership Symposium in Del Mar (San Diego, USA) from May 22nd to May 26th.

GLS is an event that takes place every two years where leaders, from across the Globe gather, reflect on innovative and best practices regarding organ and tissue donation and transplantation.

This year GLS will count with the presence of the Nobel Prize winner, Al Roth, who will contribute with his knowledge of economics applied to donor registries.

We invite you to join us alongside our partners OneLegacy, LifeSource and Gift of Life Institute, and to enjoy this unique experience for health and transplantation professionals.

EMPODaT Final Meeting held in Aswan-Luxor, Egypt

On March 4th - 7th, 2016, the Final Meeting of the European-Mediterranean Postgraduate Program on Organ Donation and Transplantation (EMPODaT) was held in Aswan-Luxor, Egypt.
A total of 20 professionals from 8 different countries (Spain, Sweden, Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, UEA, Ethiopia, and Sudan) participated in this final meeting.

  • To review all the activities developed during the project
  • To discuss the training program evaluation results
  • To approve the draft of the Project Final Report
  • To optimize deliverables and ensure their dissemination
  • To Constitute a Euro-Mediterranean training network in Organ Donation and Transplantation and to sign a final networking agreement
  • To focus on the program expansion to different potential adopters outside initial target group by dissemination media event and conference

We would like to thank all partners, officials and international external experts for contributing to the success of the final meeting. It was really memorable experience for all of us.

VII SATO Congress in Algeria

From the 4th to the 5th December 2015, took place the VII SATO Congress in Algiers (Algeria). Dr. José Ignacio Sánchez-Miret and Dr. Chloë Ballesté participated as a DTI Foundation representatives. They presented the organ donation and transplantation organizational model as well as the DTI-TPM experience in the field to the audience composed of transplant. All the professionals came from all around the world and also some special guests from France, Morocco and Turkey. During the Congress the newly Agence nationale des greffes (ANG) was presented and Professor Nabil Debzi was elected as SATO President. We want to congratulate our dear Algerian friends for this further step to consolidate the deceased donation program!
