DTI Community presented yesterday the first patient talk of 2023. This first talk gave patients to talk about their experiences and their fears pre and post transplant.

The talk hosted both doctors and patients. Laura Geli, Marta Gubau and Javier Arredondo were the three patients invited to share their experience through the transplantation process. Laura and Javier have had a liver transplant and Marta has had a heart transplant. There were two doctors from Hospital Clinic de Barcelona invited too: Dr. Torregrossa, renal transplant; and Dr. Farrero, heart transplant. Dr. Paredes was also the moderator for this session.

Patient Talks present the opportunity for patients, family and friends to share their experiences and ask professionals about their doubts. “Forty years ago I was afraid of rejection…” said patient Laura Geli on her experience. Since then, things have improved. “From then on, I lived a very normal life,” she said.

These conversations provide a warm and welcoming space for patients and their loved ones to discuss their experiences, advice on how to face these challenges, and tips alongside doctors, professionals, and members of the TPM-DTI Foundation.

Patient talks are offered for free online, and are offered in Spanish and English. These talks are offered monthly. More information and links to sign up for talks can be found on the website, social media and newsletter.
