DTI Experts at TTS Congress 2024 in Istanbul
We had a remarkable presence at the TTS Congress 2024 held in Istanbul, where our President, Dr. Martí Manyalich, along with a team of experts, participated in significant discussions and workshops that focused on advancing practices in donation after cardiocirculatory death (DCD).
The DTI delegation was comprised of distinguished professionals, including Dr. Chloë Ballesté, Dr. Mauricio Galvao, Mr. Joaquim Albiol, Ms. Carmen Blanco, Dr. Brian Alvarez, and Dr. Alberto Villamor. Together, they led an impactful workshop titled “The New Era of DCD Education: Innovate, Inspire, Implement!” This engaging session provided participants with invaluable insights and practical strategies for teaching DCD procedures, aiming to elevate the standards of organ donation through DCD practices. The workshop emphasized innovative learning methods, including the use of virtual reality, and highlighted the crucial role of medical devices in enhancing DCD procedures.
In addition to the workshop, DTI experts delivered five insightful presentations that fostered knowledge exchange and collaboration:
- Dr. Chloë Ballesté presented on two key topics: “Curriculum Design for International Courses” and “Establishing a System for Deceased Organ Transplantation in LMICs: Strategies and Considerations.”
- Ms. Carmen Blanco shared her insights through “Family Approach Simulation Cases” and examined “The Impact of a Continuous Training Program on Deceased Donation Rates in Different Countries: The Effect of Transplant Procurement Management (TPM).”
- Dr. Brian Alvarez contributed with his presentation on the “Organ Donation Postgraduate Program at a Philippine University: Impact of ODISSeA.”
These presentations not only showcased DTI’s commitment to advancing education in organ donation but also encouraged meaningful discussions among participants.
In addition to the workshop and presentations, DTI showcased its innovative work at a stand during the congress. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with an NRP simulation, allowing them to experience firsthand the critical aspects of DCD procedures. Moreover, participants were invited to try a virtual reality (VR) experience, which offered an immersive perspective on the donation process, further highlighting DTI’s commitment to education and innovation in the field.
We are absolutely honored to have attended the TTS Congress 2024 and to have been part of this important event. The success reflected on workshop and the positive feedback from attendees reflect the importance of knowledge sharing and practical training in the field of organ donation and transplantation.
