DTI had the privilege of taking part in the 18th Congress of the Asian Society of Transplantation (CAST), held in Hong Kong from August 25th to 28th 2023. Our presence was marked by active involvement and meaningful contributions throughout the event.

Dr. Martí Manyalich, President of DTI Foundation, talked about the TPM model being and its adaptability in different countries on August 25th. Our experts from DTI moderated a session on August 26th, centered around the theme of “Donation and Procurement.” International experts from Korea, Japan, and Thailand delivered five insightful presentations.

Our engagement extended to the oral poster presentations on the same day. Dr. Maria Theresa Bad Ang presented the ISN Sister program, highlighting its impact on organ donation activity. Dr. Chloë Ballesté, Director of International Cooperation and Development at DTI Foundation, talked about our comprehensive training initiatives and their positive effects in the Asian region. She covered a range of initiatives including TPM courses, the international master’s program on donation and transplantation of organs, tissues and cells, the impactful ODDISSeA project and the tissue banking and advanced therapies course.

Moving on to August 27th, our collaborative partners from the COTDF (China Organ Transplant Development Foundation) delivered a presentation with the focus on the outcomes and learnings from the BROAODD training collaboration conducted in China. The session titled “Improving donation through education for health professionals: Belt & Road Organ Donation Capacity Improvement Cooperation Training Project (BROAODD)” was delivered by Jie ZHAO from China.

Overall, the CAST Congress has been a great experience to learn from international experts and share experiences with a high scientific level. We hope we can work together and contribute to the mission of saving more lives.
