The 9th International Congress of the Iranian Society of Organ Transplantation (IRSOT) was held from October 31st to November 3rd, 2023. The congress took place in Shiraz, a city in Iran, and it gathered heathcare professionals from around the world, including Dr. Martí Manyalich, President of DTI Foundation.

Dr. Manyalich’s presence at the IRSOT Congress was possible thanks to the invitation extended by Dr. Sayed Ali MalekHosseini, the President of IRSOT. During the congress, Dr. Manyalich presented not just one, but two insightful presentations. The first presentation, titled “How to develop deceased donation worldwide,” which delved into the critical need of expanding knowledge to healthcare professionals worldwide about organ donation to increase the number of transplants met every year. As Dr. Manyalich mentioned in his presentation, if more doctors are trained to procure organs more lives will be saved.

In his second presentation, titled “How DCD (Donation after Circulatory Death) can improve deceased donation and transplantation programs,” Dr. Manyalich explored the innovative possibilities offered by DCD in improving deceased organ donation and transplantation initiatives. DCD has been gaining attention in many countries for increasing the donor pool and saving more lives through transplantation.

DTI Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. MalekHosseini for inviting Dr. Manyalich to the IRSOT Congress. It was an excellent platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences among international professionals in the field.
