Medical Education Program in Organ Donation and Transplantation for Latin America
Excellence in transplantation systems requires continuous scientific updating, clinical rigor, and international cooperation. The allocation of solid organs from deceased donors is one of the most complex processes in this field, integrating medical criteria, principles of equity, and advanced technological tools.
The Medical Education Program in Organ Donation and Transplantation for Latin America is the result of a strategic alliance between Werfen, Werfen Brazil, and the Donation and Transplantation Institute, DTI Foundation, aimed at strengthening professional capacities in the region and promoting the global dissemination of knowledge in donation and transplantation.
The program consists of five online webinars, each accompanied by an in-person networking event held in different countries across the region, fostering scientific exchange and professional interaction.
First webinar

DTI Foundation launches a series of Social Webinars in collaboration with patient associations

At DTI Foundation, we believe that information and support are key to improving the quality of life for transplant patients and their families. For this reason, we have launched a series of Social Webinars in collaboration with various patient associations, aiming to provide expert guidance and create a space for dialogue and mutual support.
Through this initiative, we seek to bring medical knowledge and real-life experiences from patients and specialists to everyone facing the donation and transplantation process. Each webinar will feature experts in the healthcare field and representatives from patient associations, who will share valuable information and answer attendees' questions.

2nd edition of ODISSeA postgraduate program
DTI Foundation is very proud to take part in the second edition of ODISSeA (Organ Donation Innovative Strategies in Southeast Asia) postgraduate program in University of Santo Tomas (Philippines). This project was possible thanks to the Erasmus+ program of the European Commission.
It is an important milestone in our field, as organ donation has been included in the medical university curriculum. It is crucial that young healthcare professionals are familiar with organ donation after death from the start of their careers.
Organ donation rates in Philippines in 2022 compared to 2019 have increased by more than 100%. The majority of the referrals came from hospitals where graduates from the first batch of UST ODISSeA are working.
This postgraduate program is mainly focused in theoretical and practical contents on deceased and living organ donation, but also includes awareness events among the university and hospital staff to spread the word on why organ donation is important and how does organ donation work.

European Solidarity Corps 2022
DTI has applied for this program. Thanks to this application, during 2022 DTI has been able to count with the participation of two volunteers. They have participated in two different projects for 9 months. The main goal of the activity has been to support the development and implementation of organ and tissue training programs. The reception of the volunteers in the Foundation has allowed them to be trained both in the field of donation and transplantation and in the learning training and cooperation.
The European Solidarity Corps (ESC), known until 2016 as European Voluntary Service (EVS), is an international volunteering program by the European Commission for young people to go individually or in teams to another country, usually from one European country to another, to work for a non-profit cause. Since 2017, the program also offers opportunities for European youth to get engaged as volunteers in their own communities.

Outstanding Concert in Luz de Gas
DTI Foundation is honored to have been able to co-organize a solidarity concert in Luz de Gas Barcelona. The concert, which took place last Thursday 17th of November, put together 4 different non-profit organizations to raise awareness about different challenges we face daily in our societies. The different organizations that also participated in the event were: Fundació Boscana, Kadiandú and Recuérdame Alzheimer.
The band Por Fin Viernes with his solidarity music played during the concert. Thanks to the dedication they have had throughout all these years we were able to raise awareness about organ donation.

DTI Foundation fundraised 1473.33€ which will be used for future scholarships. Our hope is that this concert will serve as a starting point for further training for healthcare professionals in developing.
Spreading awareness about our objectives requires the help and participation of the public, and it is through events and fundraisers like this concert that we can best achieve that mission.
