Experts from the international relations division of the Biomedicine Agency (Agence de la biomédecine) in France visited DTI. Naima Barry and Agathe Gozzerino spent a couple of days in Barcelona to learn more about the Spanish organ donation model.

During their stay, Chloë Ballesté, DTI’s International Cooperation and Development Director, was able to show them the most important organizations and a hospital donation unit in Barcelona. They went to the Hospital Clinic, where they were taught how the organ donation unit works. They also visited the Catalan Tissue and Blood Bank (Banc de Sang i Teixits) and OCATT (Catalan Transplant Organization) where they met Jaume Tort, OCATT’s General Director, and Jorge Twose, Communication Manager. They presented how the Catalan and Spanish healthcare system and its internal organization to ensure organ allocation.
