DTI organizes a workshop for a Vietnamese delegation

During the past week, Donation & Transplantation Institute organized the Workshop: "Exploring a Successful and Sustainable Model of Donation and Transplantation" for a delegation from the Ministry of Health and the National Donation and Transplantation Agency (VNCCHOT) of Vietnam.

During this visit, the different representatives learned about the hospital units participating in the donation and transplantation process at the Hospital Clínic and the Hospital de Bellvitge.

Additionally, they also had the opportunity to discover the functioning of the donation and transplantation system in Catalonia through a visit to the Catalan Transplant Organization (OCATT), where Dr. Jaume Tort attended them. The day concluded with a visit to the facilities of the Blood and Tissue Bank of Catalonia.

Within the framework of this visit, another session was held where a collaboration agreement was signed by Dr. Dong Van He, the director of VNCCHOT, and Isabel Roselló, representing the DTI Foundation. The event concluded with words of gratitude from President Dr. Martí Manyalich, on behalf of the DTI Foundation, and from Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Tiene and Dr. Luong Ngoc Khue as representatives of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam.

Finally, the week concluded with a sharing of the concepts acquired during the workshop and their possible adaptation for Vietnam. As a closing of the workshop, the participants received a certificate of completion.

Talk for transplanted people: support applications

DTI organized a talk which gave patients the opportunity to talk about a support application created specifically to help them manage their medication adherence and track of glucose, tension, etc.

The talk hosted both healthcare professionals and patients. Dr. Oriol Bestard, Chief of department of Nephrology, Dialysis and Kidney Transplantation in Vall d’Hebron University Hospital; Irene Sánchez, Advanced Practice Nurse in Kidney transplant; and Laia Tobella, renal transplanted patient, who was invited to explain her experience with the support application. Dr. David Paredes, DTI's senior consutant and Donation and Transplant Coordinator in Hospital Clínic, moderated the session.

Tha application presented during this talk was TrackYourMed, an app which was built by a group of doctors to help matients and help the communication with them. You can learn more about this app here: https://www.trackyourmed.com/

These Talks give the opportunity for patients, families and friends to share their experiences and ask professionals about their doubts. These conversations provide a warm and welcoming space for patients and their loved ones to discuss their experiences, advice on how to face these challenges, and tips alongside doctors, professionals, and members of the DTI Foundation.

Patient talks are offered for free online, and are offered in Spanish and English. These talks are offered monthly. More information and links to sign up for talks can be found on our website, social media and newsletter.

Success of the VIII Curso Avançado Em Coordenação De Transplantação in Portugal

We extend our appreciation to all participants of the recent VIII Curso Avançado Em Coordenação De Transplantação (8th Advanced National TPM Course) held in Peniche, Portugal from March 6th to March 8th. This course, co-organized by IPST, showed a great dedication and enthusiasm by healthcare professionals towards improving transplant coordination.

The course brought together Spanish and Portuguese experts to enable participants to acquire skills and knowledge essential for effective transplant coordination. We are grateful to those professionals who contributed to the success of this program. The training took place from March 6th through 8th with a blended modality that included face-to-face sessions in Portugal. As a result, we were able to welcome 60 Portuguese healthcare professionals who demonstrated strong dedication towards promoting expertise in this key area.

Through this course, healthcare workers receive scientific and technical education on dealing with the intricacies involved in the organ and tissue donation process. Since its establishment in 1994, many students have gained valuable information, and most of them are now leaders in donation and transplantation. Overall, we want to thank all the participants and experts who helped make the VIII Curso Avançado Em Coordenação De Transplantação a success, and we look forward to future opportunities with these healthcare professionals.
