Welcome to the DTI Community! Here we invite all patients, families, friends, and everyone to learn more about organ donation and transplantation.
Apart from the patient associations you can find in many countries, we at DTI aim to create an international community of patients who want to connect and openly talk about their experiences, fears and accomplishments.
For recipients and waiting list patients alike, building a strong network of support is crucial, as the process of transplantation is often a long, difficult journey… where sometimes you can even lose hope. Therefore, it is important for recipients and their loved ones to connect with other individuals around the world with similar experiences in order to lift each other up and find strength amongst each other. We want to ensure that it is as easy and enjoyable as possible for patients to connect with each other – that’s why the DTI Community is so important.
Alongside patient associations and international healthcare professionals, we want to help every patient and their families to have an open space where they can ask the questions they need. Thus, we organize patient talks every month for patients to gather together, exchanging stories of hope, advice, worries, and triumphs, while building lifelong connections with others in the same position.
In our patient talks, each meeting features doctors and medical professionals who specialize in the meeting’s topic matter. Topics range from fear of rejection, sexual relations after a transplant, sports, nutrition, and many more.
