3rd Advanced TPM Training course in Kunming

Kunming, capital of the Yunnan province has hosted for the third time an Advanced Training Course in Transplant Procurement Management (TPM) from the 10th to the 13th of September.

The group of DTI international experts had the privilege of visiting the Kunming OPO offices in The First People´s Hospital of Kunming on the 9th, the day prior to starting the course. This visit was crucial to further assess and analyse the organ donation program in the Yunnan province. The visit was also the perfect opportunity for them to learn about organ donation in China and corroborate the astounding continuous improvements.

Dr Chao Li, OPO director facilitated the ideal forum for the internationals and local experts to exchange expertise.

The 60 participants of the course learnt organ donation practices from the DTI experts from Brazil, Spain, Italy, Portugal, USA and Germany encouraging them to improve and develop new clinical protocols.

The 13th  of September in the afternoon the DTI experts joined the Organ Donation Ethics Committee in The First People´s Hospital during the process of a donation approval, the DTI team was also invited to take part in the donor honor act before organ recovery.

DTI Foundation and the Kunming OPO (KMOPO) will continue to collaborate with the goal of improving the organ donation rate in the Yunnan province.


EU-CHINA KeTLOD Project Closure!

Final Meeting & Media Event in Guangzhou, China

On 1-2 September 2018, the Final Meeting & Media Event of the EU-CHINA KeTLOD Project was held in Guangzhou, China.

The Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University welcomed more than 40 professionals from 13 partner institutions established in Europe and China.

During the Final Meeting all the partners worked together to achieve the following objectives: to review all the activities developed during the project; to discuss the postgraduate program quality and evaluation results; to optimise deliverables and ensure their dissemination; to Constitute a KeTLOD Network on Organ Donation.

The first day was dedicated mainly to the Project Management and Quality control activities. Through workshops and group discussions the further steps were set up for the Project Final Report submission to the European Commission.

On 2nd of September, the Media Event was organised to disseminate the project results. Among the honoured guests were:

  • Jingdong Li, Vice-Director, Guangdon Branch Red Cross Society of China

  • Patrick Jambou, University of Nice Sofia Antipolis
  • Wenshi Jiang, KeTLOD National Coordinator in China
  • Linong Huang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Guangzhou Zhujiang Hospital

During the event each Chinese University had a chance to present the implementation and impact of the project on institutional and regional level. This session was followed by the media questions and short discussion.

Moreover, the continuation and transferability of the KeTLOD Postgraduate Program was boosted. The KeTLOD Networking agreement was signed in this regard. Nevertheless, all Chinese Universities searched for different formulas for the future editions, according to their local policies and structures.

In the end of the Media Event the initiative ¨Organ donation, I do !¨ was launched to raise awareness about organ donation in China and to spread knowledge and information how to become a donor.

 

The Final Meeting ended with a visit of the Southern Medical University, Department of the Human Science where a special section of Organ Donation is exposed.

1st INTERMEDIATE TRAINING COURSE IN GUANGZHOU

In September, Guangzhou the capital of the Guangdong province hosted the 1st Intermediate Training course in Transplant Procurement Management (TPM).

On the morning of the 3rd the open ceremony day, the group of international DTI experts had the opportunity to visit the Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University. During the visit they were accompanied by Dr Yongguang Liu, OPO director while exchanging experiences with doctors and nurses from A&E, ICU, PICU and the OPO. They had the chance to discuss first-hand the organ donation program specially in A&E and ICU as they are the units with the highest organ donation potential.

The course open ceremony in the afternoon was attended by Mr. Segundo García Fernández, the Spanish Vice-consul in the Guangdong province, Professor Wang Quian, president of the Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University, Professor Changshen Feng, Professor Qifa Ye director of the transplant program in the Wuhan province, members of the Guangdong Branch Red Cross Society of China and numerous dignitaries.

During the next three days the DTI international experts from Spain, Iran, Belgium and Italy joined by a group of excellent local experts shared their knowledge and expertise with the 52 participants from the Guangdong province.

The ultimate goal of the TPM courses is to improve the organ donation rate through increasing the proficiency of the health care professionals.


The 24th Advanced International Training Course gets U.E.M.S. Accreditation

We are glad to announce that after getting the UEMS accreditation for the Advanced International Training Course held in Spanish language we have just achieved the same for the English version!

The course has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®). The EACCME® is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.net.

All the participants that will complete the course schedule will be awarded with a certificate of a maximum of 28 European CME credits (ECMEC®s).

Moreover, through an agreement between the European Union of Medical Specialists and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Information on the process to convert EACCME® credits to AMA credits can be found at www.ama-assn.org/education/earn-credit-participation-international-activities.

 

 


3rd Intermediate Training Course in Hong Kong

For the 3rd time this august, DTI Foundation were pleased to organize the 3rd Transplant Procurement management course in Hong- Kong.

Together with the Hospital Health authority of Hong Kong, The Queen Mary hospital and the international expertise team of TPM-DTI the third Transplant Procurement Management course was held from 13th till 15th of August 2018.

This 3-days course was attended by 40 health care professionals, mainly from Intensive care unit, Neurology and Neurosurgery departments working in the most important hospitals of Hong- Kong. The training covered basic concepts and procedures of the donation process focused on the needs identified with the local team. Lectures, discussions and onsite simulation were the principal components of the training program.  The participatory approach of this training encouraged interaction, personal opinions and experiences to be shared with the experts.

The support given by the local faculty helped in shaping the course and delivering it in the most beneficial way for the participants. We do believe the scientific knowledge and technical skills gained form this course will develop the participants professional’s competences as specialists in the field of organ donation.

A delegation from Thailand came to Barcelona for an Advanced Professional Educational Program in Organ Donation

DTI Foundation in Collaboration with Hospital Clínic of Barcelona organized last week an Advanced Professional Educational Program in Organ Donation for a delegation of 20 nurses and doctors from the Ministry of Health and the Thai Red Cross from Thailand.

The course started on July 23rd and concluded on July 31st. During the week, the participants have visited the OCATT (Organització Catalana de Transplantaments) and the BST (Banc de Sang i de Teixits) and have assisted to several lectures and practical sessions regarding the organ donation process in the Hospital and in the Parc Científic de Barcelona.

Anhui 1st INTERMEDIATE TRAINING COURSE IN TRANSPLANT PROCUREMENT MANAGEMENT

Hefei, capital of Anhui province has hosted for the first time a Training Course in Transplant Procurement Management (TPM) from the 24th to the 26th of July.

The TPM course was the perfect platform for exchanging knowledge and sharing experiences. A team of international DTI experts from Brazil, France, Spain and Iran joined by a group of excellent local experts had the opportunity of enhancing the expertise of the 45 participants from the Anhui province.

This three-day course aims to inspire the participants by its unique methodology with lectures, workshops and in situ simulation, the innovative approach encourages their motivation and enthusiasm to increase their knowledge and skills.


DTI Training Program continues at Guanxi Province, China

The 4th Training Course in Transplant Procurement Management (TPM) was held in Nanning from the 17th till the 20th of July.

After the previous editions successfully held in Nanning this one was the first course at an advanced level, involving professionals from all the Guangxi province.

During these days a team of six international DTI experts from Spain, United States, Portugal and Iran joined local experts to share their knowledge and experience in organ donation with 50 participants. All together experts and participants engaged in this unique learning experience giving them the opportunity of connecting through their mutual passion for organ donation.

This course in part of the actions of the collaboration project between the 303 Military Hospital and DTI foundation started in 2016. This cooperation aims at improving the organ donation activity, facilitating the exchange of experience and expertise, and developing scientific research in the field of organ donation and transplantation. The Guangxi OPO (ODAC) is one of the centres with an important activity in organ donation and transplantation, presenting a high donation rate among Chinese provinces.

Through its campaign “More than words”, Repsol Foundation is promoting a better quality of life for vulnerable groups, encouraging social integration and meeting the critical needs of specific communities. Among these projects it is DTI Foundation’s programme for healthcare professionals and for raising awareness in society about organ donation and transplants, with the participation of the National Organ Transplant Unit (NOTU) of Trinidad and Tobago.

The collaboration between REPSOL Foundation and DTI started on 2010 with the main goal of establishing the self-sufficiency in the deceased donation program and make Trinidad and Tobago a reference country in the field for the CARICOM region.

 


1st TPM course in Xi’an as part of the National Program of TPM trainings in China

From the 12th till the 14th of June, in the city of Xi'an was held the 5th edition of the Intermediate Transplant Procurement Management courses at National Level in China. These courses are part of a cooperation project coordinated by the China Organ Donation Foundation and DTI Foundation, internationally supported by WHO, that aims to train over 1200 health care professionals all over China in a period of 5 years (2014-2019).

During these three days a team of six international DTI experts joined with local experts shared their organ donation knowledge and experience with 72 participants who were privileged to enhance their skills by learning from exceptionally proficient professionals from Spain, France, Iran and China.

The collaboration between China Organ Donation and Transplantation Development Foundation and the DTI Foundation continue the activities aiming to reach the partnership´s main goal to improve the knowledge of the Chinese health care professionals about the donation after the citizen’s death and their clinical practice in the field.
